Jenna was a ten year old girl that was paralyzed from the waist down. She was always
really nice and considerate of others. She loved to play sports and help around the
house, but some times she got frustrated with her big wheel chair because it was in her
way. When people would pity her or feel sorry for her
she would tell them of her good doings and then if she felt up to it she would show them
an example.
One day when she was at the doctor's office for her monthly
checkup, the doctor told her there was a good chance that she could start walking after a
three series surgery. As soon as she heard that she began to smile her biggest
smile. She would finally have her chance to be normal.
Exactly a month later the first surgery took place.
Although it was long, it was a success. Every day she would feel better. Like she
was gaining muscles in her legs.
Then came the second and then soon the third. Finally
her legs were strong and she went to therapy. Within two weeks she could walk with a
walker. And within four months she could walk by herself. When all was done
and she was walking, and even running, she said, "It was a long wait, but well worth
it!"
And so she went on and became a runner in the Olympics, and
won the gold medal.
