One day at home, when cartoons came on,
I heard dad say,"Everyone in the car!"
The whole family packed, thier things in sacks,
for a trip who knows how far.
Pulling out, and driving south,
we went on our trip.
We pulled, in this nation, into a gas station,
Filled up, bought snacks, and split.
Finally we stopped, in a big parking lot,
Got out and looked surprised.
A grocery store? What're we here for?
We all asked with tears in our eyes.
So we shopped, in this one spot.
Then went back home.
I have to say, it's been quite a day,
How could we have known?
Went to sleep, in front of the heat,
Later, dad wakes us up again.
Only this time, he's made up his mind,
And we're all going to Michigan.
